"There was an old lady who swallowed a fly, I don't know why she swallowed a fly, perhaps she'll die.
There was an old lady who swallowed a bird, how absurd to swallow a bird.
There was an old lady who swallowed a horse - she's dead of course."
Rose Bonne
Taking inspiration from the elegance and savagery of nature, this austere and poetic collection looks at what exists beneath the surface, at what is suggested rather than said. This collection is playful but dark-hearted, feminine yet subtle.
Steph Aman, winner of the Visionary Award, will be presenting her 5th collection at On|Off during London Fashion Week, 12th - 15th February and Atmosphere during Paris Fashion Week, 29th February - 3rd March.
The collection comprises free-draw machine embroidery and hand-produced cut work, with meticulous attention to detail. This season Steph Aman has collaborated with typewriter artist Keira Rathbone. Keira has produced illustrations that are featured as prints on various garments in the Autumn/Winter 2008 collection.
All the designs are 100% natural featuring: silk, chiffon, tulle, habotai, satin, jersy, and leather. All the garments are in muted prime colours: red, blue and yellow, with black and pearl also featuring.
